Personality Types
People in the office

Malcolm Patterson works for Mercedes. He was recently promoted to department boss for marketing. He moved to the head office in New York last month. Now he is responsible for a department of sixty five people that does marketing for North America. This is the first time he is responsible for such a big team. He is training this week in New York where he is preparing for his new position, and for his training program he has to do a study of personality types. He has to analysis the people from his former position in the Stuttgart office.

Here is a list of personality types from his office.

The worker (support staff)
The workers in my department were employees who arrived on time every day and did what they had to do and they were reliable. They arrive on time and left on time. They were not always the most team oriented but they did their job.

The Creative Employees (writers and artists).
The creative department at Mercedes required writers and artists. They arrived every day when they wanted, and they left when they wanted. Their contribution was not overrated but sometimes they thought they were much more valuable than they really were.

The Leaders (up and coming).
Generally a good group of employees, the leaders were always a great contribution to the team. They worked well together and gave a lot to the company. They were different from creative employees, they worked well in teams but they were independent so they could be left alone.

Managers
Like team leaders, the managers were great team players and gave a lot to the company. The managers were master politicians. They worked in teams but only if it was helpful for their career. Also they worked for their own interests.

Following the analysis of his team in Germany Malcolm had to anticipate problems and possible solutions for managing these teams in his new job.
